The Seattle Mariners schedule in 2018 should be a highly entertaining one. Following a disappointing 78-84 2017 season, they are looking to bounce back and once again capture the American League West Division title. They have a solid roster of proven veteran talent, and a rejuvenated fan base that is very excited about the future, thanks in large part to a handful of young prospects.
Mariners game tickets are going to be very popular this year, as the attention shifts away from the Seattle Seahawks and toward the squad on the diamond. They are anchored by number one starting pitcher Felix Hernandez, who has been with the squad the entirety of his 14 year major league career. His best season arguably came in 2009, when he went 19-5 with a 2.49 ERA while mowing through lineups throughout the American League. He still has very electric stuff. If he can win 16 games or more, it will likely mean that the Mariners are in contention for the postseason. Amazingly, he has never won 20 games in a year, despite having compiled a career record of 161-114.
The ageless Ichiro Suzuki will be 45 years old in October, and he is entering his 18th year in American professional baseball. He didn't cross the Pacific Ocean until 2001, when he was 27 years old. He instantly became a hit machine, leading the league in hits seven of his first 10 years, and setting the all-time high water mark with 262 hits back in 2004. He left Seattle back in 2012 before spending the better part of three seasons with the New York Yankees and three more with the Miami Marlins. He signed a contract and deciding to return to Seattle for what could be one final season. The chance to witness one of the single greatest hitters all time in person is worth the price of admission alone.
Now's the perfect time to secure Mariners tickets that will put you in the middle of the action at Safeco Field. Initially built in the final years of the 20th century, the venue opened to the public in July 1999 to the delight of many. It is truly an architectural marvel that was a pioneer in retractable roofing and other areas of modern design. The 2018 season should be a fun one for Mariners fans.
